FORM MAKING - MINIATURE SET DESIGN
Being a VFX artist, I have always been fascinated by use of miniature models and props in films. This fascination led me to delve into facilitating this unit for the foundation year students. A considerable amount of hands on work was a part of this unit.
This involved exploring and experimenting with materials like paper, fabrics, paper Mache, found objects, clay, tin sheets, polystyrene, wires, foam sheets, cardboards, etc. to understand the character of the material, it’s functionality and appropriate use. Habits to inculcate for this unit was ‘thinking with hands and ‘reuse and recycle’.
These are not exactly scaled models of the original ones and many are imagined and designed by students.
